Happy 30th Birthday to Me/ Peace River Family Photographer is Running a CONTEST

Well, what can I say. Tomorrow it’s my birthday, and I will be turning the BIG 30. People ask me if this bothers me.  Absolutely NOT!  I’m happy to say I feel great!!!

I was at a Dr. Appointment the other day for something very minor , but I had to check in at the front desk.  The kind lady ask if I was indeed “Leah Wood and if my birthday was March 9, 1980.”  She paused, smiled  and looked up and said “Happy Birthday”, I said ” Thank You.”  I looked back at her and mentioned “Yep I’m getting old in a couple of days.”  This wonderful lady had grey hair and looked like your usual Grandma. She looked up at me through her bifocals and said”  You are not old,  you are just a baby and  when you get to be my age then you will undoubtedly be old.”  I looked back at her and said ” You know, I think you are as old as you feel.”

I went out on Friday evening for supper with my husband and some wonderful friends. We celebrated  and the only difference I can see by turning 30 over 20 is when you are 20 most of us do not have huge responsibilities and we party a little harder.  I did indeed consume a few drinks myself, enjoyed great company and did some dancing. That’s another thing that changes from your 20’s. Your dancing, once your married, have 4 children, and is carrying a little extra luggage you dance a little different. You are not out their flaunting yourself trying to attract a mate, so instead you are indeed dancing for fun and trying not to care too much about weather or not you are making a fool out of yourself. Which in my case I’m most likely making a fool out of myself.

So in light of me getting older I thought I would run a CONTEST. I love contests.  I’m giving away a 2 hour session which is worth $150 Bucks.  This will be a great way to celebrate spring.  So you are asking yourself how the heck do I get myself into this session. Well easy. I want you to send me your funniest story about AGEING. I do not care if you are turning 21, or 61 tell me your stories about how you knew you were getting old.  I will read through the stories and the best one wins. I will be featuring you on my blog with your winning story. To Whomever wins please be prepared for a outdoor session. I will be dragging you outside for some Fresh Spring Air. Contest Closes March 23, 2010 at 12am.

Please send your stories to dlwood@telus.net and leave some blog love comments on my blog.

Sincerely Yours Leah

    Darlene Dudart - Hi Leah,

My name is Darlene and I live in Lethbridge, Alberta. This year is a milestone for me as well but unfortunately it isn’t my 30th…its my 50th. I’ve decided this year that I would do something for me and only me to commemorate my 50th year…I want to lose 50 lbs. 50 lbs in my 50th year is my motto…I hope I don’t let myself down.

My funniest story for ageing is that I’ve always felt 19 at heart and had my kids convinced for years that I was 19. That lasted till they were old enough to do the math. When my son was in grade 5 his teacher asked him how old I was…don’t remember the reason…they were probably doing some family project or something…but he told his teacher that I was 19 with 21 years experience! I have no idea where he got that from but I loved it! That was 10 years ago now and I’ve never forgotten him saying it…I guess this year I’ll be 19 with 31 years experience!

    Happy Birthday Leah!
